Calne Foodbank Relocates to New Premises to Beter Serve the Community

After 2 ½ years in temporary accommodation, Calne Foodbank, a charity dedicated to providing emergency food assistance to those in need in the SN11 area, is pleased to announce its relocation to a new premises. The move is a result of the organisation’s continued growth, driven by increasing demand and demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to serving the community.
The new premises, located at 1 Oxford Road, Calne, offers more space for storage, storing, and distribution of food donations. Significantly, it also has a small private room, where clients can talk in private with agencies who will be able to offer them additional support. This has been a key long-term strategic aim of the Trustees. The move also means Calne Foodbank will be conveniently located in the heart of Calne, making it more accessible to those who rely on its services.
“We are delighted to move to new permanent premises,” said Kevin Wells, the Chairperson of Calne Foodbank. “The new location will enable us to provide beter services to our clients, a beter work environment for volunteers, and help us expand our outreach to those in need in the community.”
Calne Foodbank has been providing emergency food assistance to individuals and families in crisis for over 10 years. The charity is run entirely by volunteers and is supported by the local community, businesses, and faith groups. In 2022, a total of 1954 food parcels were issued to those in need.
“Sadly, we continue to see a significant increase in demand for food parcels in Calne. We are grateful for the support of the local community and our donors” said Kevin. “Their contributions have helped us to meet this rising demand and to make a positive impact on the lives of those who are struggling.”
Calne Foodbank is open Monday and Friday from 12.30pm – 3.00pm and Wednesday between 10.00am – 12.30pm.
